Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, President of the Public Authority for Health Care, Assistant Minister of Health and Population, General Supervisor of the Comprehensive Health Insurance Project, received Ambassador Obaid Boama Akwa, Ambassador of the State of Ghana to Egypt, to discuss and strengthen ways of cooperation between the two countries in the health care sector, at the authority’s headquarters in Nasr City.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky reviewed health care developments in Egypt, and the pioneering experience in comprehensive health coverage for citizens under the umbrella of comprehensive health insurance. Pointing out that the authority owns nearly 300 facilities, including 25 hospitals that include technological technologies and are equipped with medical and administrative staff that provide world-class health care and services.
The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation to transfer the vast Egyptian expertise in the fields of comprehensive health coverage, advanced medical care and digital transformation of services to Ghana. The meeting also discussed aspects of cooperation in the field of medical tourism, where Dr. It has accredited health facilities according to the latest quality standards, great skills and experience, and medical tourism programs that qualify it to become the first destination for expatriates from African countries for treatment in Egypt, as a strategic goal for the authority.
And Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky continued: We are implementing the directives of the political leadership by extending bridges of cooperation with African countries to transfer the vast Egyptian expertise in order to advance the health care sector in all countries of the African continent, and to attract health investments, especially after what Egypt witnessed from a development boom in various fields of health care, the most important of which The comprehensive health insurance project and the promising investment opportunities it provided in the field of health care in Egypt.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Sobky expressed his happiness at discussing ways to enhance cooperation with Ghana in light of the historical and close relations between the two countries, stressing that this meeting is the beginning of advancing bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields of health care, transfer of experience, and others, which leads to the advancement of relations in the field of health care. To the level that achieves the interests and aspirations of the two countries, and attracts medical tourism and African health investments to Egypt.
For his part, Ambassador Obaid Boama Akwa affirmed his country's keenness to support bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields of health care, praising the great support given by the Egyptian political leadership to the health care sector, which contributed to providing the best medical and treatment services to citizens, which made Egypt a center for attracting Health investments, stressing that the Egyptian state enjoys a strong and advanced health care system, appreciating the efforts of the Health Care Authority in enhancing prospects for cooperation and creating investment opportunities in new health projects, on top of which is the new comprehensive health insurance project in Egypt, to ensure the continuity of the development and sustainability of the health care sector.
Ambassador Obaid Bwama Akwa praised the Health Care Authority's possession of health facilities that are accredited and equipped at the highest level, praising the quality of health facilities and the efficiency of the medical teams operating in them. He also expressed his great admiration for what he saw on the ground of the quality of health facilities and services provided to patients during his visit to health facilities of the Authority in Luxor Governorate, pointing out that the COP27 climate conference was a difficult test for optimal medical insurance, saying, “But the Health Care Authority succeeded in this difficult test and medical insurance for the conference to the fullest.”
The meeting was attended by Dr. Amir Al-Talwani, Executive Director of the Authority, Dr. Mustafa Ghanima, Advisor to the President of the Authority for Institutional Transformation and Director General of the General Administration for Branch Affairs, Dr. Ahmed Hammad, Director of the General Administration of the Technical Office of the President of the Authority, and Dr. Ahmed Atef, General Supervisor On international cooperation and external relations of the Authority.
It was also attended by the Ghanaian Embassy in Egypt, Mr. Samuel Selassie Seavor, Head of Chancery, and Mr. Kevin Nyasambi, Political and Economic.
