The Chamber of Health Care in the Federation of Industries has developed a prescription to promote medical tourism in Egypt, and stressed the need to facilitate the procedures for issuing a health visa.
Dr. Alaa Abdel-Meguid, head of the Healthcare Chamber of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, said that Egypt is one of the largest countries qualified to be a major destination for medical tourism in the world.
Abdel-Maguid added, in press statements today, that those interested and working in the medical sector in Egyptian medical tourism are striving to achieve the goal of giving a distinguished experience to the health tourist’s journey, to make Egypt the first health tourism destination in the region.
Abdel-Majeed called for the need to grant discounts on travel tickets by national airlines, and also for tourism companies to grant sufficient discounts so that the price is competitive with other countries and is one of the factors of attraction for medical tourists, and focus on tourism programs for the patient’s companions and provide a comprehensive program for surgical procedures. From the time the patient left his country until the end of his treatment trip in Egypt.
The Chamber demanded that there be specialized teams to deal with the patient at the airport, and allocate special corridors for him to transport him quickly, in coordination with the Information Authority in the countries that have information offices to carry out promotional campaigns, as well as activate commercial attaches in all countries to facilitate this task, and with regard to the official role Represented by the Egyptian Ministry of Health, through official contacts by the Minister of Health with his counterparts in all countries of the world, especially Africans and Arabs, and cooperation between the Federation of Hospitals in all Arab countries to attract Arab tourists to Egypt.
For his part, Dr. Muhammad Hablas, member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Healthcare, explained that the most important factor in the development of health tourism in any country in the world is the experience of the health tourist.
“TouristExperience”, on the basis of which plans are built and the desired results are achieved through studying several reliable international experiences in the Arab region and abroad to find a practical mechanism that can be implemented in Egypt.
He pointed out that the necessary proposals have been made that contribute to giving a positive experience to the customer, and defining the tasks required of the decision-making authorities, which will contribute to achieving our goals for developing health tourism in Egypt.
While Dr. Ghada Al-Janzouri, a member of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, said that what is meant by the experience of the health tourist’s journey is the set of experiences, attitudes, steps, procedures and services that the health tourist goes through during his journey to obtain health service in another country, and begins with obtaining information related to his health needs while he is in a country It ends with his return to his country and the completion of the follow-up procedures for the health service he obtained.
Al-Ganzouri demanded the necessity of facilitating the procedures for issuing a health visa, and creating a clear, specific and easy mechanism for how to book medical and non-medical services, including prices and payment methods, and a guide for tourism activities and hospitalization and recreation tourism.
On the other hand, and in a related context, Dr. Hani Sherif, a member of the Board of Directors of the Health Care Chamber, suggested creating a website or electronic platform that represents health tourism in Egypt, explaining and explaining all its capabilities so that it works to facilitate access to various health services, while clarifying the prices of medical packages for health services. And a list of institutions and hospitals that provide these services, and it is a means of advertising for other tourism activities inside Egypt, and it is implemented through a professional company whose advertising and organizational form is at the highest level of ease and effectiveness for the benefit of users and it is in the languages of the target countries such as (Arabic, English, French).

Dr. Hani Sherif suggested making advertisements about health tourism in all EgyptAir headquarters inside and outside Egypt, and making advertisements about health tourism in all airports of the Arab Republic of Egypt, with the intensification of Egypt's representation in international conferences and exhibitions on health tourism, supported by the presence of hospitals and treatment institutions.
He explained that the goal is to highlight the sources of strength in terms of medical specialties and elements of tourism attractions to support the medical and therapeutic tourism industry, in addition to enhancing cooperation and integration between the participating companies and direct contact with the media that addresses the health tourist and the companies of tour operators, with the work of a marketing and promotional plan for Egyptian health tourism, as it should That there be companies and offices to market medical services in other countries or by linking up with international tourism companies.
