The Chamber of Tourism Companies announced that an agreement has been reached with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities to grant emergency visas to Schengen visa holders and facilities to enter Egypt to stimulate medical tourism.
The Chamber stated that all holders of a valid visa from Britain, Japan, Canada, the United States of America, Australia, the countries of the Schengen area and New Zealand can obtain an emergency visa for the purpose of medical tourism.
In this regard, Dr. confirmed. Ghada Shalaby, Deputy Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Tourism Affairs, said that Egypt has the potential for medical tourism that can compete with any major country in this file in the world.
Shalaby indicated that Egypt has already advanced in the medical tourism file, explaining that the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is studying with specialists in this file how to maximize the revenues of the medical tourism file in Egypt.
Dr. Ghada Shalaby said, "We are currently working on studying a mechanism to reach the target markets for this file and provide all facilities to maximize medical tourism revenues."
Shalaby added that the details of the facilities and services provided by hospitals for medical tourism will be through a website, in addition to providing tourism services that a person can receive.
The Deputy Minister referred to the many tourism potentials that Egypt abounds in, referring to the tourism and environmental potentials that abound in the New Valley Governorate and Egypt as a whole, pointing to the interest of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities in diversifying the Egyptian tourism product, and its current great interest in medical and health tourism.
For his part, Adel El-Gendy, Director General of the General Department of Strategy at the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, stressed the state's interest in the health tourism product, pointing out that Egypt has many natural resources that can place it among the global health destinations.
Adel El-Gendy explained that the capabilities and competitive elements of the Egyptian health destination are not limited to this momentum of resources only, but the state has prepared investment schemes for economic benefit from this tourism product, taking into account the highest levels of sustainability and responsible development in terms of environmentally friendly absorptive capacity and a climate compatible with the nature of the region. In addition to establishing a land and air transportation network that facilitated access to the places of these resources, while enabling local communities to continue traditional practices to provide a rich healing experience.
He stressed that Egypt's success in becoming a distinguished regional center in the treatment of many diseases, and the superiority of its human elements in eliminating intractable viruses, as well as its ability to overcome the repercussions of the Corona virus pandemic, made it among the countries that provide highly profitable investment opportunities in the field of health tourism.
